Daniel Wolfe, one of Canada's most wanted men, was captured by Winnipeg police shortly before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say Wolfe was seen getting into a vehicle near the 500 block of Young Street Wednesday afternoon. Officers followed the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop. Police arrested him near Flora Avenue and Salter Street.
A 25-year-old woman was allegedly with Wolfe at the time of the arrest. She's facing charges of aiding and abetting escape, and obstructing a peace officer. She was released on a promise to appear in court.
32-year-old Wolfe is one of the founding members of the Indian Posse street gang based in Winnipeg.
He and five other inmates broke through a brick wall and escaped the Regina Correctional Centre on Aug. 24.
Wolfe was awaiting trial on two counts of first degree murder and more counts of attempted murder when he escaped.
Four of the other escapees have already been caught.
There is no word on the whereabouts of Ryan John Agecoutay, 25, the only escapee still at large at this time.
Standoff in The Pas
Police had hoped to capture Wolfe earlier this week.
RCMP Emergency response teams surrounded a housing complex on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation near The Pas late Sunday morning. They had received a tip that Wolfe was inside.
Their search turned up nothing; but residents told CTV News they had seen Wolfe around the community. They said he wasn't wearing any kind of disguise or trying to hide.
