The man who shot two Winnipeg police officers during a drug raid in 2006 is out on bail after being convicted of attempted murder Wednesday.

Daniell Ian Anderson was also been found guilty of discharging a firearm with the intent to wound an officer.

During his trial court heard that police were executing a search warrant at his home in December 2006 when three officers were shot, although one of them was hit by a ricocheting police bullet.

Anderson's lawyer had argued that her client acted in self-defence because he thought he was the target of a home invasion.

Anderson is planning to ask the judge to set aside his conviction arguing that police violated his charter rights by using excessive force during their raid.

His case has been adjourned to Jan. 14, when a date for sentencing is to be set.
