Officials in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews ordered a precautionary evacuation of about 40 homes in the summer community of Breezy Point, north of Winnipeg Friday.

About 20 homes have people living in them right now.

Water Stewardship Minister Steve Ashton said the evacuation is mainly in place because local roadways are flooded and that could hamper emergency services from getting into the area.

Some residents say the flooding is due to ice-jamming in the area. They believe the province should give them more priority and bring in the at least one Amphibex ice-breaker.
