Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide in the Point Douglas area.

Around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, residents say a man began pounding on their doors saying his friend had been stabbed.

An ambulance took the 36-year-old victim to hospital, but he died from upper body injuries.

Police questioned a number of people and are investigating whether the dispute might have begun at a party in a home on Barber Street, that spilled out into the back lane behind Prince Edward Street, where the stabbing happened.

An autopsy is planned. The investigation is continuing. So far no one has been charged.
