The Winnipeg Police Service and its partners are in the midst of their Just Slow Down campaign, but when you leave city limits you will now be able to speed up.

Effective Canada Day, July 1, 2009 motorists will be able to crank it up to 110 km/h on some provincial highways including the Trans-Canada from the Saskatchewan border to Virden.

You will also be able to go a little faster on Highway 75 from the U.S. border at Emerson all the way to St. Jean Baptiste.

Currently the speed limit on those two stretches of roadway is 100 km/h and while you will be able to pick up the pace on those stretches the speed limit remains unchanged on other Manitoba highways.

The latest information on road conditions and lane closures is available at www.manitoba.ca or at 1-877-MBROADS (1-877-627-6237).
