Environment Canada said a tornado is responsible for the deaths of two people during a violent storm near Ear Falls, Ont,, a small town located northwest of Thunder Bay.

Ontario Provincial Police said five people were injured when the storm raked Fisherman's Cove, a tourist fishing resort, located in Lac Seul, about 15 kilometers south of Ear Falls.

Constable Beth Chevalier said two bodies were found in the water on Thursday night when police arrived on scene, 15 minutes after they received an emergency call.

"There was debris from the cabins and other building material in the water," said Chevalier.

Police are also still looking for another person who is unaccounted for.

Chevalier cannot confirm what the victims were doing or whether they were inside at the time of the incident.

The storm damaged at least three cabins when it struck the resort at about 9 p.m. ET.

Chevalier said the remaining people who were at the resort during the storm are safe and in good health, though one person is unaccounted for.

The police have not yet released any information about the victims, but an autopsy will be performed on the bodies.

The storm occurred just as Environment Canada on Wednesday issued a tornado watch for parts of Saskatchewan and Alberta, and as a tornado struck very close to Red Deer, Alta. on Saturday.

Red Deer is located at a similar distance north as Ear Falls.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson was not confirming that it was a tornado until later in the day.

From the start Coulson said videos and pictures of the storm indicate that it is "looking much more likely that it was a tornado."
