Four males arrested in Friday homicide

Winnipeg police say believe the suspects charged in a homicide from Friday were involved in a number of other robberies and assaults that same evening.

The homicide investigation from a call that came in about a stabbing on at Aikins Street and Alfred Avenue has turned into a list of offences that would indicated a rampage though the streets of Winnipeg.

Police say the timeline looks like this on the evening of July 10, 2009:

At about 6:30 p.m., a 60-year-old man was threatened and robbed of personal property by a number of males at the rear of a business in the 800 block of Main Street. In that instance the suspects fled the scene and the victim was not hurt.
At 8:30 p.m., a 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old female were confronted by a group of males who demanded their personal property in the area of the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Both victims were physically assaulted and the male victim was stabbed a number of times in the lower body. The suspects fled the scene with the victims' property. The male victim was treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, a 54-year-old male was physically assaulted and robbed of his personal property by a group of males in the area of the 300 block of Burrows Avenue. The victim did not require medical attention.
Minutes later, a 24-year-old male was confronted by a group of males in the area of Aikins Street and Alfred Avenue. An altercation ensued resulting in the victim sustaining critical injuries as a result of being stabbed. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries. The victim has been identified as Joseph Hall.
A short time later, a 38-year-old male was threatened with a knife, physically assaulted and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash while walking in the area of St-Johns Avenue and Aikins Street. Medical attention was not required.
The suspects then confronted two males, aged 52 and 17. They were threatened with a knife and one of the suspects stole their vehicle while the other suspects fled the area on bicycles. The victims were not injured.

While attempting to locate suspects, police saw the stolen vehicle crash into a curb, rendering it inoperable. A suspect fled the vehicle but was apprehended a short time later by a member of the Canine Unit.

The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of three other suspects in connection to the aforementioned incidents. All four suspects have been charged with six counts of manslaughter and robbery.
