An autopsy has confirmed 20-year old Joshua River of Bloodvein First Nation died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Police have now laid second degree murder charges against Bloodvein resident Charles Orvis also 20-years of age.

In the morning hours of August 13 police were called to the Bloodvein area after reports of a man lying on the side of the road.

Upon arrival police found the man deceased.

On August 14 an autopsy was conducted at St.Boniface Hospital to confirm the cause of death. The RCMP are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Orvis will appear in Winnipeg court on August 17.
