Winnipeg Blue Bomber running back Fred Reid has been the Canadian Football League's offensive player of the week for his record breaking game against the B.C. Lions last Friday.

Fred Reid had the game of his career against the Lions setting a Bomber record for rushing yards in a game. Reid ran for a career-high 260 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in the Bombers' victory.

Reid currently leads the CFL in combined yards with 1,390, yards from scrimmage with 892 and rushing yards with 795. Reid has 160 more rushing yards than Montreal's Avon Cobourne who sits second in the category.

Reid's 260 rushing yards eclipsed the previous Bombers' record of 249 yards set by Blaise Bryant 15 years ago and is the third most in CFL history. Only George Reed who rushed for 268 yards in 1965 and Ron Stewart who ran for 287 yards in 1960 had more rushing yards in a single game.

Reid was chosen by a panel of judges that includes former CFLeague players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Saskatchewan's Stevie Baggs was named defensive player of the week, Montreal's Larry Taylor was named in the special teams category, and Montreal's Matthieu Proulx was named the Canadian player of the week.
