Greyhound Canada has announced the company will stop service in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. This comes just two weeks after the company celebrated the grand opening of a new bus depot at Winnipeg's Richardson Airport.
"We are no longer in a position to absorb losses that are almost solely attributable to government policies," said the senior vice-president of Greyhound Canada Stuart Kendrick.
The company will give the Manitoba Traffic board 30 days notice so that all of the tickets sold to date will be honoured.
Ontario residents will get service for a little longer with Greyhound providing the Ontario Highway Transport Board with 90 days notice.
Company officials say they are also reviewing their operations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
