The 43-year-old driver of a GMC truck was fatally injured after a crash with a northbound 2008 Land Rover.
Both vehicles flipped over after they made contact at an uncontrolled intersection, say police.
The accident happened on Friday one mile north of highway three and 2.5 miles west of the Town of Darlingford in the RM of Pembina.
A female passenger in the GMC truck was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The driver and lone occupant of the Land Rover, 32, was also sent to hospital, treated then released.
According to police seatbelts were used and speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors.
Officers are still investigating the cause of the collision.
