RCMP say a male teacher on the Waywayseecappo First Nation has been charged with sexually assaulting a female student.
Police were notified about the incidents at Waywayseecappo Community School on Oct. 22 and an investigation resulted, leading to charges against a suspect. Waywayseecappo is about 320 km northwest of Winnipeg.
Robert Michael Woron, 51, was charged with two counts of sexual interference based on allegations on two offences that occurred in October, said RCMP.
Officers says Woron was released a promise to appear and has several strict conditions on him, including having no contact with any child under the age of 16 without another adult present.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 9.
Officers ask anyone with information about the incidents to contact their nearest RCMP detachment, or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
