Manitoba may have its first H1N1 death of the fall season.
The province's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Joel Kettner would not confirm the deceased person's age, gender, or whether they had underlying medical conditions, or if they received the H1N1 flu vaccine.
Kettner says the number of people getting the flu is on the rise.
"Oberservation is that we're in wave two," according to Kettner. "And we continue to have more cases mostly of a mild nature but some severe."
The person's death is currently being reviewed.
The province says it received 17,000 vials of the vaccine yesterday, allowing flu clinics to stay open for the remainder of the week.
There are currently 14 people in intensive care with severe respiratory illnesses in the province. Ten are on ventilators. One of the ill patients has been confirmed to have H1N1.
Seven Manitobans died during the first wave of the H1N1 flu this spring.
