RCMP have charged a Portage la Prairie man for shooting at his neighbour.
The victim's wife notified police that her neighbour attempted to shoot her husband. Officers responded to the call on the east side of the city at around 5 p.m on Wednesday.
Earlier that day, the suspect came to the residence, threatened his 50-year-old male neighbour, hit him with a firearm and attempted to stab him, according to police.
The firearm was also discharged but no one was hit. The suspect then fled the scene.
RCMP officers located the 36-year-old man and took him into custody without incident. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, uttering threats and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He is scheduled to appear at the Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on Friday.
The victim refused medical attention and police are not releasing the names of the parties involved to protect the victim's identity.
Officers are still investigating the matter.
