RCMP have identified the victim in a fatal pedestrian collision late Friday afternoon.

Thompson resident Tommy Ellis, 50, was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on provincial road 391, about two kilometres north of Thompson.

Officers say he was found dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision is a 45-year-old Thompson man.

The victim's family has requested police do not release his name.

Poor visibility is considered a factor in the case, according to police. No charges have been laid. Police are still investigating the cause of the collision.
