Police had to fight through a fire at a residence in Norway House to save a 25-year-old man who was trapped inside.
The home was engulfed in flames when RCMP arrived at around 5:30 Saturday morning. Police say the smoke was too thick inside to enter the residence so fire crews had to control the blaze first.
Officers were eventually able to get in and bring the man out. He was immediately taken to the Norway House Hospital in stable condition. He was later air transported to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
An elderly woman with medical concerns was assisted out of the house by her 16-year-grandson. They were treated at the scene by paramedics and released.
There were no other people in the home, according to police.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. The police investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
