A night out to attend a house party in Transcona turned fatal for a 19-year old Winnipeg man.

Officers found him in a parking lot at Regent Avenue and Day Street early Saturday morning, suffering from multiple wounds to his upper body. The victim was taken to a hospital but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the case is considered a homicide.

Friends have identified the victim as Nolan Norman.

Earlier Friday night, Norman went to a house party a few blocks over on Victoria street.

Witnesses say he and others were drinking. Norman became involved in an argument over a girl, which then spilled over into the street.

A group of teens then allegedly began beating him with sticks.

Darryl Palidowor lives near the house where the party took place and says he heard Norman's screams outside his door.

"My heart goes out to his family," says Palidowor. "It's just sad what a night of drinking and being stupid can do."

The victim then managed to get himself to a nearby 7-11 store, looking for help. A store employee called police.

Officers spent the day gathering evidence from the scene. They now have several people in custody.
