The family of a teenager beaten and stabbed to death on the weekend is calling for calm after its loved one was killed.
Nolan Norman, 19, was killed Saturday morning outside a Transcona house party. His sister, Tuesday Norman, says Nolan died in a friend's arms after being attacked.
Following his death, there has been talk about payback. Police are concerned about possible retaliation and are asking anyone close to the victim to let officers do their job.
At a vigil held Sunday, some mourners turned their grief to anger and teens began throwing rocks and breaking car mirrors.
Nolan's mother, Debbie Norman, is asking for peace after her son's death.
"You guys all love him, You all care about him. But don't make it any worse...nothing you're going to do is going to bring him back," said Debbie.
Police have charged Jordan Costello, 20, with second-degree murder.
Sources say Costello and Norman knew each other and were friends until a few weeks ago, when they had a falling out over a girl.
Police expect to lay more charges in the case but aren't saying when that will be.
