A police standoff with a man believed to be armed with a weapon inside a Maryland Street building has ended peacefully, said officers.

Officers were first notified about a domestic dispute at the building near Sargent Avenue around 6 a.m.

A woman inside the residence was able to get out, but a man in the building refused to leave, said police. Officers learned the man may have been armed with a gun.

The police's tactical support team and negotiators were brought in.

When the 24-year-old man finally agreed to come out of the suite around noon, he apparently wasn't carrying a weapon.

Two nearby schools were put into lockdown while officers were on scene.
