There are just a few weeks left in this year and the Salvation Army is tens of thousands of dollars away from reaching their annual goal of $300,000.

On Saturday the Pembina Trail Twins Midget Hockey Team was out in full force ringing kettle bells at Polo Park Shopping Centre to help raise the $90,000 still needed.

Team Coach Daryl Harris said the team is happy to help.

"It doesn't take much time out of your day but it means the world to our city's less fortunate families," added Harris.

According to Salvation Army officials donations are down significantly while the need for services has increased 40 per cent.

"We are greatly appreciative to all who have already supported The Salvation Army but would like to appeal to all Winnipeggers to support this vital campaign," said Captain Les Marshall who is with Salvation Army Public Relations.

The money raised goes towards the Salvation Army's addiction centre, senior's home as well as children and youth programs.
