Four teenage suspects face a number of charges in connection with the alleged beating and stabbing of a 14-year-old girl, said police.

Officers were called shortly before 12 a.m. to a residence in the 400 block of College Avenue regarding a stabbing on Dec. 19.

An investigation determined that a 13-year-old female suspect confronted a 14-year-old female victim at a house party and physically assaulted her, knocking her to the ground.

Three other female suspects, age 13, 14 and 16, joined in the assault, beating the victim, said police.

One of the suspects picked up a knife and the victim was stabbed repeatedly in the upper and lower body, rendering her unconscious, said police.

The suspects fled before police arrived. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for multiple injuries.

A police investigation led to the arrest of four suspects on Dec. 22.

A 13-year-old female and a 14-year-old female face charges for attempted murder, aggravated assault and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. They have been detained in custody, said police.

Another 13-year-old female and a 16-year-old female face charges for assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. They have been released on a promise to appear in court, said police.
