Police say an error by the pilot led to a plane crashing into an airport runway in Bloodvein, Manitoba at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The commercial plane from Ontario was carrying 13 passengers, including nine adults and four infants. No one was injured, including the pilot.

The pilot failed to deploy the landing gear, causing it to land on its belly when it made an emergency landing, say officers.

The plane, a twin engine Piper Navajo Chieftain, was eventually removed from the runway. The airport was temporarily closed but has since been reopened.

The Transportation Safety Board has been notified.
