A man carrying a case of beer was stabbed and physically attacked by a group of unknown suspects on Saturday at around 2 a.m. in the first 100 block of Stadacona Street, say police.

According to officers, four to five suspects, all in their twenties, approached the victim with an edged weapon.

It is not clear if it was a knife, say police.

The victim dropped the case of beer after being confronted.

The suspects attacked the victim and then left the scene.

The beer was not stolen. Officers say it is not clear if the victim was targeted for the beer or money.

No weapon has been found yet, say police.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was rushed to a hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made.

The east district crime unit is investigating.
