Grass fires whipped up in Winnipeg for a third straight day.

Firefighters were called to a field near Pembina Highway and Bishop Grandin Boulevard around 2 p.m on Sunday.

Crews faced several challenges fighting the blaze including strong north winds and no road access to the field.

Fire trucks were eventually able to get closer to the blaze after a gate into the area was unlocked.

On Friday and Saturday crews were out fighting separate grass fires on Gunn Road.

Heavy winds have made the fires difficult to contain.

The cause of the fire on Sunday is under investigation.
