RCMP have made two more arrests in the alleged murder of an inmate at Stony Mountain Institution in 2006.

Raymond Joseph Armstrong, 37, and Adrian Claude Young, 29, have been arrested and both are charged with first degree murder, as well as conspiracy to commit murder, in relation to the death of inmate Sheldon McKay, said RCMP.

Armstrong was arrested on April 27 and Young was arrested on April 29 and both men were in custody at Stony Mountain Institution at the time of their arrest, police said.

The two were housed in a cell block range in Stony Mountain Institution with McKay at the time of his murder and are reported to have had gang affiliations, police said.

RCMP officers had previously announced the arrests of suspects Jeffrey Lyle Bruyere, 32, and Raymond Gaspard Chartrand, 28, who were also charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the same death.

The charges were laid after a lengthy investigation by RCMP and the Winnipeg police's homicide unit.

Officers said they will continue to investigate this homicide and anticipate making more arrests.
