A store clerk was sent to hospital in unstable condition after being stabbed in the neck during a robbery Sunday night.

The incident happened in the 900 block of Keewatin Street around 8 p.m.

Two male suspects demanded money from the 50-year-old female clerk, said officers.

The clerk was then allegedly stabbed in the upper body and the suspects fled from the store, said police.

The victim was upgraded to stable condition in hospital and was later released. She did not want to speak on camera, but told CTV News that she's relieved the two suspects have been caught. She said she has known one of the suspects for years and still can't understand what happened.

The victim said she's grateful her injuries weren't any more serious and she's determined to re-open her store as soon as possible.

A 14-year-old youth has been charged with robbery with a weapon and aggravated assault. A second male suspect is 11-years-old and was turned over to his parents.

CTV News spoke to the the mother of the 14-year-old suspect. She says her son is a good kid.

"I feel sad…I hope (the clerk) is okay," said the mother.
