A 20-year-old man was shocked with an electronic control device after he assaulted two officers on Thursday afternoon, said police.

The police's tactical support team was called to the 300 block of Church Avenue and learned that a suspect, who was possibly armed, had smashed the window of a passing vehicle and was walking toward a school in the area.

The suspect was taken to hospital in stable condition, released from hospital and then detained in police custody.

He faces multiple charges, including resisting a peace officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with a condition of recognizance.
