A woman has pleaded guilty for a crash that killed two men in downtown Winnipeg in June 2008.

Lucy Muthoka, 52, pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving causing death, after the more serious charges of criminal negligence causing death were dropped.

On June 29, 2008, two pedestrians, William Halcrow, 57, and James Ross, 58, were killed after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Donald Street and St. Mary Avenue.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw an SUV come speeding out of a nearby parking lot.

Muthoka has been free on bail since her arrest following the incident.

Details on a sentencing date have not yet been released.
