Vicious crows have made going outside a little scary for some residents of Ebby Avenue.

Neighbours said the birds have been hanging around since Thursday, swooping down on anyone who goes near. They believe the birds are trying to protect a fledgling.

So far, the crows have gone after residents, a meter reader, a CTV News reporter and one of the family's dogs.

Rachel Bouchie said her family is terrified of the birds.

"My stepmother was trying to go by them and it grabbed her hair," she said.

Manitoba Wildlife officials said they often get calls about vicious crows but there is nothing they can do.

Most the time the birds are vicious because they are protecting a fledgling, officials said. Once the baby crow can fly away on its own, the other crows will leave.
