Police are looking for suspects after a man received a serious injury in a stabbing in downtown Winnipeg on Thursday.

Around 11:15 p.m., officers were called about the stabbing. A 27-year-old man had been walking in the area of St. Mary Avenue and Smith Street when he was confronted by a group of suspects.

The victim was slashed in the upper body, receiving a serious injury, said police.

He was taken to hospital where he's listed in stable condition.

The suspects, all males, are described as black, about 20 to 25 years old, with shaved heads and appearing clean-cut.
