A city committee has voted down an appeal by some south Winnipeg residents who voiced concerns over the plan to build the new Blue Bombers stadium at the University of Manitoba, near their neighbourhood.

Some residents had voiced concerns about the impact on their neighbourhood from traffic and noise from a new stadium.

Dozens of residents appeared before the city's appeal committee on Friday.

At the committee meeting, residents said not enough notice was given before a conditional-use order was granted, but their appeal was voted down by councillors.

Councillors did, however, agree that a project permit for the construction would only be granted after a traffic study is successfully completed.
