A 22-year-old was charged with driving dangerously and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after a vehicle smashed through the front of a South Osborne restaurant at about 2:20 a.m. on July 15.

The front of the Marigold Chinese Food restaurant on Osborne Street South was still boarded up and rubble lay on sidewalk when police announced the charges on Sunday morning.

Officers said the vehicle was going southbound on Osborne Street, reaching excessively high speeds, and the driver lost control.

Damage to the building and business is estimated at approximately $200,000. There were no injuries as a result of this collision.
