Violence continued into the second night of the long weekend in Winnipeg.

Officers arrested two suspects after a man was robbed of his beer at the Balmoral Hotel on Saturday night.

Police said the suspects were seen, by officers, running in the area of the hotel at about 10:15 p.m. and one was carrying a sawed-off shotgun.

Both suspects were arrested without injury.

Police are also investigating an unrelated incident in which two people were pepper-sprayed during an attempted break-in in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Just before 12:10 a.m., two male suspects, armed with a shotgun and pepper spray, attempted to break into a residence in the 100 block of Larter Crescent, officers said.

Two residents of the home tried to block the suspects from entering and were pepper sprayed.

The suspects fled before police arrived.

Both residents were treated for the effects of the pepper spray.

Earlier in the weekend, a man was stabbed to death in a home on Nassau Street. Police are also continuing investigate several violent incidents that occurred over the first night of the long weekend.
