Officers have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 25-year-old woman in downtown Winnipeg.
Police were called to an apartment block in the first 100 block of Carlton Street just before 3 p.m. Thursday.
The victim was found suffering from severe upper body injuries and was rushed to hospital, said police. She later died from injuries.
A male suspect is in custody in connection with the incident.
Police said the victim was known to the suspect, but the incident is not considered a domestic dispute. Officers said the suspect was staying with the victim and her husband at the time. The victim's name is not being released at the request of her family.
Maxwell Zavitz, 22, of no fixed address has been charged with second-degree murder, said police.
