Three people have been charged after a man was stabbed and sent to hospital in critical condition after an incident outside a Manitoba Housing complex on Winnipeg Avenue.

Officers were called around 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday to the 1400 block of Winnipeg Avenue.

An investigation determined a 30-year-old man went uninvited to a house party.

The man was asked to leave multiple times but refused. Eventually, the man left but then removed an air-conditioning unit from a window outside of the residence, said police.

Three other people at the party allegedly confronted the 30-year-old man. The man was tackled, sprayed with bear spray and stabbed, said police. While the victim lay on the ground, one of the suspects robbed him.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.

Three people have been arrested.

A 17-year-old female and Joel Stephen Chartrand, 20, face charges for aggravated assault.

Lance Stefan Comeau, 20, faces a charge for aggravated assault and robbery with a weapon, said police.
