University of Winnipeg officials said on Saturday that cuts to services for disabled students that were outlined in an internal memo are not going ahead.

CTV reported on the cuts outlined in the memo on Friday, which included elimination of the voluntary note taking service. Staff shortages were being blamed for the changes.

On Saturday, officials told CTV the proposed cuts had not yet been approved and because of concerns raised, the university plans to hire more staff to make sure those services can continue.

Officials also said the university plans to continue to seek government funding to address the increased service needs of its growing student population.
