Winnipeg police are looking for two suspects after former Blue Bomber Dan Huclack was beaten and robbed of his Grey Cup ring.

Around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Huclack was walking westbound on McDermot Avenue near Sherbrook Street when two male suspects approached him.

One of the suspects, believed to be armed with a weapon, demanded cash. Huclack said he handed over $40.

The suspects then assaulted him and stole his Grey Cup ring, he said.

Huclack said that while the ring is insured, he hopes to get his original one back.

He was also treated for minor injuries from the incident.

The first suspect is described as black, about 21 to 23 years old, about five feet 10 inches tall (177 cm), with a skinny build, short black hair and a slight moustache. The suspect was wearing a red and black-checked jacket.

The second suspect is described as aboriginal in appearance, about 28 to 31-years-old, between six feet three inches and six feet four inches (190 – 193 cm) in height with a heavy build. He was seen wearing a black hat, jeans, and a grey jacket.

The stolen Grey Cup ring is described as gold in colour with a diamond on the top and a blue background. The ring carries an inscription that states "score 47-17, Number 30, Position FB."
