A number of fire hydrants were tampered with late Saturday and early Sunday, flooding streets around the city.

Police were called Partridge Avenue and Main Street just before midnight, where there were a number of open fire hydrants spraying water onto the roads.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, police were called out to Gateway Road and Sun Valley Drive in North Kildonan, where they found another fire hydrant that had been opened.

A fire hydrant was also vandalized on Henderson Highway and Strood Avenue, police said.

City crews rushed to turn off the hydrants and sanding trucks were sent to all locations to deal with the ice on the roads.

Police believe all of the incidents are connected.
