Man charged with arson after fire at grow-op house

A man faces a charge after a fire at a home on Oct. 18 caused an estimated $180,000 in damage.

Police said the blaze at a home in the 1600 block of Alexander Avenue was caused by overloaded and faulty wiring used as part of a marijuana grow operation.

The 52-year-old male suspect had previously been arrested in connection with the grow operation.

He now faces a charge for arson by negligence, said police.

The man's name has not been released and he has been released on a promise to appear in court.
