December was a record-breaking month for Winnipeg's housing sector.
The Winnipeg Realtors Association says the city recorded its highest ever average monthly home sales price, at just over $252,000.
The previous record set last June was just over $250,000.
There were also a record 650 Winnipeg homes sold in December, which isn't known as a blockbuster month for the housing market. Normally, the highest prices are found in the spring months when the market is much busier.
Experts say a large influx of new immigrants combining with an extremely low vacancy rate was the driving force behind the numbers.
