An American brand of hot chocolate could be dangerous for people with allergies to almonds, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency warned on Friday.

Pelican Bay Ltd. Toffee Fudge Hot Chocolate contains almonds which are not declared on the label, officials with CFIA said.

The affected hot chocolate was sold in Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada in 226 gram (8 oz) packages bearing UPC number 0 94522 00993 1, a best buy date of 30/AUG/2011, and LOT number of 83053.

There have been no reported illnesses from the hot chocolate, but it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in people with allergies to almonds, officials said.

The importer, Mountainview Marketing, is voluntarily recalling the hot chocolate from the marketplace.
