A 27-year-old woman is now facing manslaughter charges in connection to the stabbing death of her husband.

Police responded to the 300 block of Kennedy St. at approximately 5:30 Friday night and found a 34-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. Winnipeg Paramedics rushed him to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.

"It's a very unfortunate and tragic incident where you have a number of people known to each other in a suite," said Constable Natalie Aitken with the Winnipeg Police Service. "Basically an argument erupts and the female arms herself with a knife."

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Orzias Joram Knott of Garden Hill, Manitoba.

His wife, 27-year-old Casandra Lydia Knott, is now facing manslaughter charges and is being detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Police say both the Homicide and Identification Unit continue to investigate.
