People outraged over a Manitoba judge's comments regarding a rape case gathered again Tuesday night.

A few dozen people got together at the University of Winnipeg, as a follow-up to last Friday's protest at the Law Courts.

Last week, Justice Robert Dewar received attention after he gave a two-year conditional sentence, with no jail time, to a man convicted of a severe sexual assault.

The judge said the victim and a friend sent signals that "sex was in the air" because of their choice of clothes and flirtatious behavior.

On Friday, the province announced it will file a complaint about remarks made in the sentencing hearing.

The Canadian Judicial Review confirmed that complaints have been filed against the judge. On Tuesday, a release was sent out saying Justice Dewar will not oversee any cases of a sexual nature while the matter is being investigated.

Rally organizers say that isn't enough.

"It's important that the judge recognize the repercussions this has on all sexual assault cases and all future reports of incidents of sexual assaults. And we feel that it's very important that he recognizes that takes responsibility for his actions and resigns," says Alanna Makinson of the Canadian Federation of Students.

The Canadian Judicial Council is not revealing how many complaints were filed against Dewar.

While he will not be assigned cases that are sexual in nature, Dewar will continue to sit as a judge for the Court of Queen's Bench.
