Isha Aftaita came to her parent's birthplace – Libya – to study and teach English. The 23-year-old Winnipegger is staying now to see an end to Moammar Gadhafi's rule.

Last week, Canada even offered her a way out, but she declined.

"I wouldn't miss this for my life, I wouldn't miss this revolution for anything," Aftaita told CTV News.

However, the revolution is in trouble. Outgunned rebels are on the run as pro-Gadhafi forces bomb and shell their way forward with increasing speed. On Sunday, they won another key town, forcing rebels to retreat towards the gateway to their main strongholds.

Many Libyans are asking for help from other countries, including the implementation of a no-fly zone – which would eliminate Gadhafi's key advantage over the rebels.

"Everyone is scared right now," said Aftaita. "If you're not going to help now than when are you going to help?"

Aftaita said that she plans to stay in Libya for now, hoping Canada will do more.
