Hundreds of Canada Post workers are taking a strike vote in Winnipeg Wednesday.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has been negotiating with Canada Post since November without reaching a deal. They say frustration with a new mail delivery system is a main sticking point.

Wednesday's vote will give union negotiators direction from the membership, but the executive is recommending a strike.

If workers vote to strike, the earliest they could walk off the job is May 24. Similar votes are being held nationwide until Sunday. A strike would affect postal operations across the country.
