A third Shilo soldier has died following a vehicle crash on Sunday, said officials.

RCMP said the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, about six kilometres east of Brandon.

Investigators said the four men, all military personnel from CFB Shilo, were driving west on Provincial Road 457 when their 2003 Ford Escape lost control while crossing the bridge over Willow Creek.

Police said the SUV hit the guardrail, went over the bridge and landed on its roof, becoming partially submerged in the creek. RCMP said one man sitting in the backseat crawled out and flagged down help.

Officials with CFB Shilo said Private Daniel Scoular, 24, of Half Moon Bay, British Columbia and Private Brayden MacLachlan, 26, of Port Dover, Ontario were killed in the crash.

On Monday, officials said Corporal Yannick Wright, 27, of Toronto, Ontario, died in the morning in Brandon hospital of injuries suffered in the same crash.

The three people who died were members of the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (2PPCLI).

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Daniel, Brayden, and Yannick and our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to their families," said Shane Schreiber, commanding officer of 2PPCLI. "They were excellent soldiers, friends and young men, and they will be very much missed by their comrades in the regiment."

The fourth person from CFB Shilo injured in the crash remains in hospital.

RCMP said roads were slippery and snow packed at the time of the crash.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
