Winnipeg police have arrested a teen suspect in connection with the shooting death of a man last week.

On April 29, officers were called to the 500 block of Portage Avenue around 6:30 pm.

Police were told a 20-year-old male victim had been rushed to hospital in critical condition. The victim, Trevor Abraham Harper, 20, died the next day from injuries, said officers.

Investigators learned the victim was with another male and female, prior to the incident, inside a vehicle in the 500 block of Portage Avenue when they were approached by a number of males.

One of the males tapped on the window with a handgun and demanded the vehicle's occupants get out.

The driver immediately reversed the vehicle and a suspect fired at the car, striking the victim in the upper body, said police.

Following an investigation, officers arrested a 15-year-old male on May 4 in the area of Pembina Highway and Plaza Drive.

The teen suspect faces a charge for second-degree murder and remains in custody.
