Thousands of dollars worth of drugs and guns were found after officers stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Westwood Drive on Saturday, say police.

The traffic stop was made at around 11:15 a.m. after officers spotted the three people in the vehicle acting suspicious.

"The vehicle was observed parked in that area, there was some suspicious activity, officers observed suspicious activity within the vehicle," said Constable Jason Michalyshen. "Whether that be consuming alcohol and possibly drugs we are certainly going to be running checks on the vehicle."

Initially police found a small amount of crack cocaine and open liquor. After further searching of the vehicle officers found: 97 grams of crack cocaine, 26 grams of powder cocaine, 10 ounces of marihuana, drug paraphernalia, a 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun, two 9 mm semi-automatic handguns and ammunition.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man with gang associations, a 41-year-old man with previous drug charges and a 19-year-old woman.

Officers say the two men have been charged with a number of offences and are detained at the Remand Centre. The woman is facing similar charges and has been released on a promise to appear.
