RCMP say an autopsy has confirmed the identity of a deceased girl found in the small town of Wabowdon as 14-year-old Heather Mallet.
Police were called to the scene about 5:30 on Thursday afternoon when a body of a young girl was found. Initially, police wouldn't say who the deceased was but now confirm it was the young teenager who had been reported missing.
Police are withholding the cause of death but confirm they are now investigating Mallet's death as a homicide.
Investigators from the RCMP Serious Crime Unit along are being joined by a number of support Units. Police say no additional information is available.
