The family of Heather Mallett,14, is grieving after the teen was found murdered last week in a small Manitoba community.
Her body was found in Wabowden, more than 600 kilometres north of Winnipeg, on June 9.
Heather Mallett's body was discovered near a trail, not far from the local police station, by her sister.
"It was very traumatic. I had to take (Heather's sister) to the hospital. She was in shock," said Mary Ann Kristanson, the grandmother of both girls.
Kristanson raised the two sisters after their mother died in 2007.
Heather Mallett had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and would often go for walks around the small town.
On Wednesday night, she went for a walk and never came home.
"I want answers. I want anybody who knows anything to help," said Kristanson.
RCMP have not yet said how the teen was killed. So far, no arrests have been announced.
"Regrettably, where we are at today - we are not where we want to be in this investigation," said Sgt. Line Karpish, a spokesperson for RCMP.
Officers are asking for the public's help in the investigation. Heather was last seen around 10 p.m. on June 8.
"If they saw Heather Mallett in and around those time frames to give us a call - we need to fill those gaps," said Karpish.
Relatives of the teen hope an arrest is made soon, following her murder last week.
"It was on my birthday, my sweet 16. It's not something you would want to hear," said Kennedy Chubb, one of Heather Mallett's cousins.
